Is there to be an interpretive centre on the site of the Sutherland Space Port? We have been asking questions, and getting some answers, which will be in Environmental News. There was certainly plans for a visitor centre.
The North Highland Way does not even go as far as Wick, but it is becoming a prominent stopping off place and of course, you can walk from there to John o Groats and then along the north coast. You can drop your bag at the Blackstairs facility, grab a coffee and cake, and much more is planned. You can get your passport stamped at the Coop and a prominent local businessman will feature in Environmental News.

We have an access issues forum, but as we went to the Causewaymire Windfarm on 9 February 2025, we reported it to The Highland Council anyway. With a downgrade of services on access, this is a concern.
Now that the North Highland Way is a World Trail, we have a responsibility to look after it. We do that through our business, and look for Task Team members. They should be businesses, small businesses of course, to help them build their portfolio. In January 2025, we start our journey as task team members. Help for Heros and Paths for All promote us, so we are on a roll. This and support from VisitScotland it's a great time for our company. Not to mention developments at Huna.
During the walking festival in 2025, we will be looking at the costs and benefits of the Causewaymire windfarm. You can register your interest here.
We have been designated by Climate Emergency UK to keep an eye on The Highland Council scorecards. We report back via Environmental News.
In 2020, The Highland Council adopted the town strategy. In 2024 they started a consultation on parking in the town.
On 28 January 2025 at 7pm the Thurso Community Council have a special meeting regarding parking in the town. In the thoughts of joined up thinking, the developer of the Way has contacted organisations who she knows has information which will affect this, and present to the meeting in due course.

On 4 December 2024, we heard the best news yet. The plug has been pulled on the unrealistic Sutherland Space Port. We are delighted, we have long fought for money for the North Highland Way, and it has never been forthcoming. Not economically viable, dangerous building a floating road on peat. Only yesterday did I write to the UK Minister about it. Now we can get to the nitty gritty of real work and real jobs.
In 2025, we start on our marine research to counter the proliferation of windfarms. Supported by the Highland Renewable Database and others, we push to try to offset the damage already done by the continual push for onshore and offshore wind. There has to be a better way.
Meet Wendy H. Jones from Dundee.. I met her at the Stromness Writers Group... Fantastic author. She has a right good Xmas read to offer.
Earlier this year, we were offered two cinema tickets by Thurso Cinema. When you get a Card here
we can offer you them free of charge.
