COAST TO COAST

Durness to John o Groats

FUNDING

People often ask how the work for the North Highland Way is funded..  It is funded through sponsors from companies, through publications such as the Environmental News, and through events.  We have also recently updated our Parks project appeal, due to the redirection of the North Highland Way.

Path maintenance

Already has already been carried out at Quintfall Forest and litter found on the Mirelands.

We understand MSP Ariane Burgess is asking for the Access Code to be updated, and that will hopefully include wheelchair access as they have in Dornoch.  There is one planned for Dunnet.

Sign up here and let us know if you want to adopt a path

Signage continues at St Johns Point, Dunnet Forest and Huna, and probably at Mary Anns Cottage and the Old Mill.

In 2014, we investigated how Huna could be designated as a point of interest on the North Highland Way.  The details are in Environmental News and of course, you can get there by bus.

Access issues

2025 is the twentieth anniversary of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.  We are preparing a new booklet with the diversions off the John o Groats Trail and all of its problems, and away from the north coast at Forss where there is to be a battery energy storage system.

We often have access issues, and help the farmers as much as we possibly can, so we have an Access Forum
