In the first phase of the North Highland Way, from 2012 to 2014, 40 businesses backed the North Highland Way project. They all on a map, but many have changed hands now, so not really relevant.
Lyth… not on the North Highland Way… but not far off. We are building a specific Destination page. Guests staying here can ask for guided walks to the biodiversity site.
All accommodation providers who take the survey get a classified advertisement in our magazine.
Caravan in Lyth £10 per person per night, plus gas and electricity. Sleeps six. Please ask.
Accommodation
House of the Northern Gate... the owners gave cash when we were trying to get a grant for the toilets at Dunnet Head.
Geise Farm, Halkirk - have been doing some research and will feature in Issue 8 of Environmental News.
Burnside Cottage... very kindly carried out the survey
Bettyhill Campsite stamps the passports.
We are going green! The Long Distance Walkers Association helped us in the early days. We still sell their tshirts. Then Forss House Hotel went green!
There are many accommodation providers in the north. 40 of them paid into the project in 2014, and Nature Scot assisted with the feasibility study. The Highland Council paid for the community consultation. The web site developers of the Campsites web site made a special web site for us. Thank you.
The Dunnet Bay Campsite has been helping us out, so we are happy to promote them here. We like that they promote biodiversity, providing spaces for nature to thrive by letting grasses and wildflowers grow naturally encouraging birds.
Accommodation providers who are going green will be featured in our magazine Environmental News, available on Amazon and Kindle.
Meanwhile, you can join our Quality Assurance Scheme here.
